Pflegehinweise für marokkanische Amazigh Wollteppiche

Moroccan carpets, especially Amazigh carpets, are handmade and often made of sheep's wool. To ensure that they stay beautiful and soft for a long time, you should follow the following care instructions:

1. Regular vacuuming

• Vacuum the carpet once or twice a week on a low setting and without the rotating brush.

• If possible, vacuum in the direction of the fibers to protect the wool.

2. Shake & Air

• Occasionally shake carpets outside to remove dust and loose fibers.

• Hang it out in the fresh air from time to time – but not in direct sunlight to avoid fading.

3. Remove stains immediately

• Immediately dab liquids with an absorbent cloth, do not rub.

• For light stains, use a mixture of lukewarm water and mild soap or wool shampoo.

• For stubborn stains , a mixture of vinegar and water (1:1) can help.

4. Deep cleaning & hand washing

• If necessary, the carpet can be hand washed with cold water and mild soap .

• Then allow to air dry, but do not place on the heater or expose to direct sunlight .

5. Protection against moths & moisture

• Mould can develop in damp rooms – therefore ventilate regularly.

• Lavender bags or pieces of cedar wood placed near the carpet help against moths.

6. Professional cleaning

• Consider having wool carpets professionally cleaned once a year or if they become heavily soiled.
